Q2) What specific themes did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the reader? The author emphasized that Lily has a desire to see her mother.I think author is trying to let us know about that we can treat everyone very well. Q3) Do the characters seem real and believable? Are you able identify with them? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know? Yes. They seem real and believable. I am able identify with them. There is a character reminds me of an aunt who is very helpful. When someone encounter difficulty, she will always be there to help them. Q4) Did certain parts of the book make you uncomfortable? If so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect of your life you might not have thought about before? Yes, it was because the Black is discriminated against by the Caucasian. This is very unfair for Black. Black is also a human being. We need to treat them fairly. In the book, there have two points to talk about the Black is discriminated against by the Caucasian. One is " Rosaleen lifted her snuff jug, which was filled with black spit, and calmly poured it across the tops of the men's shoes moving her hand in little loops like she was writing her name ---Rosaleen." She got lunge from the men, and she was under arrest. Another one is both Zach and Lily went to watch movie. The men saw Black and caught Zach. Zach got arrest cause May to suicide. These can show that black has been exposed the unfair treatment. No.
Q5) What have you learnt from the book? From the book, i learnt that we must treat everyone fairly because we live in an earth. In the world, we must help and love each other. We cannot discriminated anyone.

Charmainefoo's recount on the secret life of bees
1. Did you find the book engaging? Why? I found the book very engaging. It offers beauty, mystery and resolution all at the same time, which is amazing. While the story is undoubtedly filled with facts on bees and beautiful language, which allows me to learn something, while reading the book, it is also very inspiring though it is fully imagined. I am not a fan of fiction books and this is the first time reading one since primary 3. The book allows me to use a lot of imagination which is why I love reading non-fiction books. This book, although is a novel, it relates the story as though it had really happened and the storyline is very convincing. 2. What specific theme did the author emphasize throughout the novel? What do you think he or she is trying to get across to the reader? I think that the author is emphasizing on the theme ' fairytale'. I think she is trying to put across to us not to be racist, and try to create peace among the religions as there would be some sort of trouble when something occurs during a religion fight. 3. Do the characters seem real and believable? Are you able to identify them? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know? Yes the characters are real enough. Certain characters reminds me of my family. Did certain parts of this book make you uncomfortable? if so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect in your life you might have thought about before? No. None of the parts made me feel uncomfortable. this made me thihnk that actually, beesare nice creatures if you do not disturb them.

Yanying's most memorable childhood memory
My most memorable childhood memory happened when i was 10 years old, i was in primary 4 then. It happened during a competition...There was 100m and 200m finals on that day at bishan stadium.. For my 100m final, the race happened really quite fast, and it was the most exiting moment...during my 100m race, i didn't think of anything, i just hope that this race can quickly...To my surprised, i came in 2nd overall, with a timing of around 15.7s. For my 200m final race, it lasted quite slow...when i was running the 200m, it seems to be a 400m race, very long and at the last 20m, i felt very tired but i pushed myself and dashed towards the finishing line...the officer then announced that i came in 2nd.. "2nd again" i thought to myself. I got 2nd for both my 100m and 200m races!..I was very shocked..It was my first year participating in the national competition, and all of this ended with a happy timing and ending...

Qiaoyang's most memorable childhood memory
My most memorable childhood memory occurred when i was 10 years old. My parents brought me to the shopping mall to buy something. The shopping mall was very crowd and big. My parents decided to buy clothes first. When we passed by a toy store, i saw a toy was extremely cute. I just went into the store without my parents'permission. After a while, i wanted them to buy the toy for me. Suddenly, i discovered that my parents were not with me. i was very frightened. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. The server of the store saw me cried and asked me what had happened. I quickly told her. The server was a very nice person. She immediately took out her handphone and let me to press my parent's number. Within ten minutes, they had found me and scolded me. From this incident, i learned that if i need to go somewhere else must inform parents. It will forever be ingrained in my memory! Labels: Qiao Yang's memorable childhood memory

Charmainefoo's most memorable memory
I remember when i was 7. I was just in primary one then. Things were going on smoothly in school, and i adored the teachers. I was mesmerised by the large building, and the many facilities that were all around the school. However, one day, which was the first of april. April Fool's day. I still had school on that day, and was shocked to find the time to be 10.00am in the morning when i woke up. Panic started engulfing me. Bursting into tears, I ran to my parents' bedroom. There they were, watching the television. i wiped my tears away with the back of my hands, and tried to ask them why they did not wake me up in time, for school, without crying yet another time. My mother then proceeded to say that the school expelled me, for being such a naughty girl. i was confused. what did i do to make them want to expel me? then, my father went to pass me some of my new clothes, bought for me over the christmas season, and said that they wanted to bring me to a new school. All along this while, i thought that they weren joking, however, upon hearing what my father had said, i thought that reality had hit this very moment. i went to my room, and got changing, in a couple of minutes, i had done up my hair which was messy, and was prepared to go and visit my new school. Not too long later around12.00pm, m family and i were on the road, going on our way to my new school. However, escape theme park came into my sight, after driving for around half an hour. i was curious. I did not know that there was a school near the escape theme park, and asked my father:' Daddy, are there any schools near escape theme park?' my father then replied' maybe.' that was it. As we passed by the entrance towards the Escaoe Theme Park, my father dropped my mother off, and informed me that mother wanted to use the toilet. So, i didn't think much about it. within seconds, we were at the carpark, situated very near escape theme park. When i went out of the car, my father told my that he wanted to blindfold me, to bring me to the new school. i agreed, and soon, all i was seeing was pure darkness. However, it seemed to get noisierafter every step that we made, after getting out of the carpark. When i had reached the place that my father had intended me to go, he took off my blindfold, and soon, it became bright, and everthing was blur, at the beginning. i was right in front of the entrance to the escape thehe park. Suddenly, my mother appeared out of nowhere, and together in unision, they zhouted ' APRIL FOOLS!' i was surprised and touched by their april fools joke. What a wonderful surprise that was! I enjoyed my whole day at the Escape theme park, and wished that something like that would happen one more time. however, it did not, as my parents still owes my teachers an explanation on why i did not go to school on the first of april. Therefore, this has became my most memorable childhood.
